Changing facilities and club room for Broxburn United Sports Club and the community.
We have been working with Five Sisters Zoo for the last few years to bring back the much needed and missed soft play. The Client was looking for a new soft play to increase the facilities at the popular zoo including a new cafe and party room, allowing visitors to enjoy the indoor space in all weather.
After the tragic fire in the tropical house at Five Sisters Zoo, we were asked by Brian & Shirley Curran to design a scheme for a new tropical house and become part of the re-planning of the Zoo, since our appointment we have worked on many buildings from the education centre to the new lion enclosure. The new Tropical House is a major success. The Zoo has more than 100,000 visitors each year.
We were the asked by Edinburgh Dungeon in 2000 to work along side their interior design and theatre designs to set up the Edinburgh Dungeon in Market Street, Edinburgh. Since then the Dungeon has varied and amended its various show areas, we assist with any Building Warrant issues that are required during these processes.
We have been working alongside Edinburgh Dungeon and their theming team to help form new alterations at the Dungeon including a new admissions entrance, revamped judgement of sinners and their new show for 2017 ‘Witch Hunt’ which will prove to be a thrilling addition!
The project involved the refurbishment of Musselburgh RFC. A high quality of finish has been achieved and works included the installation a new disabled toilet, refurbish the existing male and female toilets, refurbishing the existing function suite and entrance foyer. This project has revitalized the building and is a great advert to a rugby club with a professional outlook, but retaining the friendly and welcoming atmosphere they are famous for.
With the demand for an indoor community space, Broxburn United Sports Club (BUSC) took the decision to extend their existing facilities to accommodate a multi- functional space for community activities including fitness, dance, community classes, conferences and functions. After three years of securing funding and the the necessary consents the green light was given to proceed in March of this year and has just recently been completed in November.
The new facility follows the footprint of the existing changing rooms below avoiding the need for costly ground works in an area of West Lothian that is peppered with disused mines. The upper floor extension is still fully accessible though, as it's design incorporates a lift installed on the original build. The new community space with its timber sprung floor, full length mirrors and windows looking out onto the main football pitch and kitchen / servery areas offers a bright, warm, flexible and functional facility for BUSC and the wider community.
